In the Rigveda, Kutsa rode into battle in Indra's own chariot, sharing it as his charioteer. Indra fought and struck down the demon Śuṣṇa for Kutsa's sake, again and again across the hymns, and the two are invoked together so often that "Indra and Kutsa" appears as a single compound name. Kutsa went on to found a gotra, a lineage that generations after him would still carry forward.
